A bad movie

“I wasnā€™t really sure what to expect from this movie and, to be honest, I actually wonder how I actually ended up watching the damned thing. Well, it turned out to be one of these rare movies during which pretty much nothing worked. I mean, for starters, what the hell did the title had to do with t” read more

An average movie

“To be honest, I wasnā€™t really sure what to expect from this movie but since it was starring Anne Hathaway and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, the concept of this sister reading the diary of her comatose brother and visit his favorite places had some” read more

An average movie

“To be honest, I didnā€™t remember much about ā€˜Horrible Bossesā€™, except that it didnā€™t really impress me, but since there was a really nice cast involved, I thought I might as well check this sequel. In fact, Iā€™m pretty sure they already did botch the concept in the previous movie so I didnā€” read more

A very good movie

“To be honest, I wasnā€™t exactly dying to see a documentary about Putinā€™s main (and seemingly only) opponent but since the reviews were pretty good, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, the damned thing turned out to be so much more interesting than I expected. Obviously, there is the fac” read more

Falling Inn Love
Notes: Even though I have a weak spot for the genre, Iā€™m afraid it must be one of the weakest romantic comedies I have seen so far on Netflix. Itā€™s not that it was really awful, itā€™s just that the concept was really weak (starting with the title). I mean, couldnā€™t they find another way for her to end up with the Inn? Like simply buying it for cheap, for example, instead of joining some completely unbelievable contest? Then, there was the renovation issue. Indeed, Iā€™m definitely not an expert, but such vast renovations should take at least 6 months, maybe even a year. Ok, if they did hire a whole team of construction workers working around the clock, maybe in 3 months, but she was doing everything with one guy. Then, finally, there was also the price tag. Apparently, since they replaced virtually ALL the furniture, without mentioning all the modern high tech stuff, I canā€™t imagine how much it did cost but I assume it was just way too expensive for her. To make things worse, the rest of the story was just so generic and predictable. Indeed, the fist person she met was of course the guy she would eventually fall in love with. At least, they usually start arguing at first but they didnā€™t even bother here. And, then, through the whole duration, she kept saying that she was going back to the US but it was so obvious that she wasnā€™t going anywhere. On the positive side, Christina Milian was charming and charismatic and this community in New-Zealand was really sweet but everything else was just so disposable and really tedious to behold.

F*ck de liefde 2
Notes: My wife actually preferred this sequel and I have to admit that it was slightly better than the previous instalment but only slightly though. Indeed, the first thing that did bother me was that Thijs Rƶmer, probably the only one who managed to deliver a decent performance in the previous movie, was actually recast. To make it worse, his replacement, Geza Weisz was actually pretty weak. What was also confusing was that, instead of bringing back Donna played by Nicolette van Dam, they added another random blonde girl called Angela played by Bettina Holwerda but why? Just because they needed to keep 3 girls going abroad on holiday like in the previous movie? By the way, this time, they sent these girls to Ibiza instead of CuraƧao but the end-results was just as jarring as it was in the previous movie. At least, the returning characters were better fleshed-out this time around. For example, Yolanthe Cabauā€™s character was slightly less one-note as they focused more on her career but she wasnā€™t helped by the fact that the conflict involving Bo and Said still felt seriously bogus. I mean, sure, Said messed up a couple of times but, during both movies, nothing really major happened that would justify such a major crisis in their relationship. On the positive side, even if the jokes were never really amazing, they were at least harmless and there was nothing awful like the kid swallowing some Viagra in ā€˜F*ck de liefdeā€™.
