A very good movie

“To be honest, I wasnā€™t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since it was directed by Felix van Groeningen and since it was available on Netflix, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, I always had a weak spot for van Groeningenā€™s work and I think it was probably his most ambitious w” read more

An average movie

“To be honest, I wasnā€™t really dying to see this flick in the movie theater (I saw the previous instalment on Netflix which was fine) but Nick, my step-son, was really eager to check it out. In fact, it was the first movie he saw from this franchise and I didnā€™t expect that there would be so much” read more

Inside Out 2
Notes: Apparently, it turned out to be a huge success at the box-office and I have to admit that it turned out to be one of the better Pixar sequels. Indeed, the idea of focusing on Riley when she became a teenager was pretty much a no-brainer and a genius move and, during this process, Riley became one of the best Pixar characters. I have to admit that I donā€™t remember much how she was in the previous movie, I think the focus was mostly on what was going in her head at the time, but here, she became a fully-fledged character and there was something so genuine and relatable about her. Furthermore, the new emotions completely made sense, especially Anxiety which was just so pitch-perfect. Seriously, I had some serious dĆ©jĆ -vu regarding my own teenage years during which anxiety definitely played a major role. So, it was definitely a decent sequel but, to be honest, it was still missing something to be truly amazing though. The main issue I had was that the plot followed too closely what already happened in the first movie. Indeed, somehow, Joy got kicked out of the HQ and, somehow, she had to find her way back through Rileyā€™s mind. I mean, this concept was perfectly fine the first time around but to give us exactly the same thing for this sequel was just downright lazy. Anyway, even if it didnā€™t become another Pixar masterpiece, it was still pretty good though.

Jim Henson: Idea Man
Ā  What was it about? This Documentary will feature interviews of fans of Jim Hensons work, interspersed with footage from Jim Henson's works, including Wilkins and Wontkins Commercials that were previously lost. My two cents:Ā  I have to admit that I was quite impressed after all. I mean, the movie itself was a rather basic documentary, there was really nothing fancy about it but I was just really impressed by Hensonā€™s legacy. I mean, sure, I had heard about the guy but I never really cared much about his work (itā€™s not that I didnā€™t try, I have actually watched all the Muppets movies). Well, thanks for this movie, I really got to understand why he was actually a genius and probably one of the most influential artists that ever worked on television, no less than that. Sure, like everyone else, he was chasing the money but not as an end but as a mean to an end. Unfortunately, 30 years after his death, we have reached an all-time low in this area as every studio and every streaming service only talks about delivering as much 'content' as possible instead of trying to deliver something that might be actually good. Concerning Hensonā€™s private life, they didnā€™t really go to deep in this area but it seemed pretty obvious that he severely neglected his wife and kids. Unfortunately, I think itā€™s unreasonable to expect from such a genius to have also a peachy family life and I donā€™t think you can have both things, having such an amazing seemingly all-consuming professional life and also have an harmonious personal life as well. Of course, he died really young which was really tragic but, considering his crazy work ethic, you might wonder if he would have been able to last much longer anyway (seriously, at the end of his life, he looked more like someone in his 70ā€™s than someone in his early 50ā€™s). My rating:Ā 07/10 Check the full review

A good movie

“To be honest, I actually never watched ā€˜Sesame Streetā€™ when I was a kid and I canā€™t say I was a huge fan of The Muppets either but, since this movie was directed by Ron Howard and since it was available on Disney+, I thought I might as well check it out. “I wasnā€™t sure what to expect from this flick but, since I'm huge fan of Joaquin Phoenix, I was quite eager to check it out.
