An average movie

“To be honest, I have never been a fan of Oasis but it was the week-end and it didn’t feel like watching another fiction so I decided to check this documentary on Netflix. Well, to be honest, I’m rather surprised by the high ratings this movie has received on this website and on IMDb.  Sure, I r” read more

A good movie

“To be honest, I really had no idea what to expect from this movie but since I have a weak spot for Tommy Lee Jones, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventually, Jones had only a rather small part and showed up only for a couple of scenes. Indeed, William Devane was actually playing the ” read more

Shock Corridor
Notes: First of all, I always had a weak spot for movies about mental institutions and this movie is probably the oldest one I have seen dealing with this subject. Well, I was surprised by how good it turned out to be. Indeed, what I enjoyed the most was the explanation they gave about how these patients ended up in this place. Indeed, the fascinating theory developed in this movie is that nobody is really born crazy. In most cases, for most people, after having a terribly stressing or even traumatizing experience, their brain apparently could handle these tremendous pressure and it just snapped. It displayed that we are basically all on the edge of insanity and this idea was also further developed by what eventually happened to the main character. To be honest, I’m not sure I really care about the murder investigation. I mean, I do understand that they needed an excuse to have the main character going there but I think it would have worked better if they went instead for an investigation on how mental instutions were working at the time. Anyway, I really liked this movie .

Only directed one movie... but very interesting (36 person items)

"Shit.... I feel so bad about insisting that you add Tom Ford.... Indeed, eventually, he has released in 2016 his 2nd directing effort 'Nocturnal Animals' so he should be removed :("

Zoolander 2
Notes: To be honest, I really didn't like 'Zoolander' at all so I didn't expect much from this sequel but since this movie was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, pretty much as I expected, it turned out to be seriously lame and I'm not surprised at all that it was such a commercial and critical flop when it was released. Seriously, pretty much nothing worked. Of course, you could argue that I never thought that Derek Zoolander was actually a funny character, even in the previous installment, but the whole thing was just boring and usually rather cringe-inducing to behold. Apparently, the whole point was to show how Derek Zoolander and Hansel could fit in our modern world but they kept adding layers upon layers of idiotic sub-plots which of course didn't work at all.

A good movie

“I already saw this movie but, since it has such a strong reputation (it is included in the '1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die' list, among other things), I thought I might as well check it out again.
