by the way, after re-reading my review (like I said, I saw this movie 3 years ago), the issue was not only their revealing outfit, it was above all the fact they were in their underwear for a good chu

To be honest, I saw this movie 3 years ago and I don't really recall how they looked like.
Anyway, I don't agree with your argument. A filmmaker makes a conscious choice on how to film and display t

“I can’t say I was really dying to see the infamous Snyder cut but I have to admit that I was curious about the end-result. To be honest, I didn’t remember much about the Whedon cut but, after reading the review I wrote at the time, I apparently didn’t hate the damned thing though. Basically, i” read more

My point was that it was dealing with some young girls being kidnapped by some predator and I didn’t see the added value of having them wearing such revealing outfits. In a different context, I don

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Catherine Zeta-Jones, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, I was actually surprised by how disappointing the damned thing actually turned out to be. It’s too bad because it really had some” read more

Notes: I have to admit that I had no idea what it was about before it started and it took me a while before I discovered that Céline Sciamma went for some magic-realism. Unfortunately, I’m not a great fan of the genre. To me, it felt like some kind of French Indie version of ‘Back to the Future’ and I have never really been fascinated by this idea of spending some time with one of your parents while being the same age. Fortunately, Ietje had some very interesting insights who helped me to better grasp this concept. Indeed, according to her, this movie was not really about time traveling but more about showing how a young child might try to cope with such a dramatic event. From this perspective, the movie became much more interesting. However, I wish they tried to cut down the dialogues and focused more on the young girls spending some time together, like any other kids. Indeed, at least half of their conversations were so obviously written by adults and would never come out from such young children. For example, at some point, towards the end, one of the girls asks if she was ever wanted by her parents. Sure, I can imagine that kids might be wondering about such matters but there is no way a 8 year old would us these exact words. Anyway, even if I didn’t feel much connection with this material, it was still a really intriguing movie.
