Well, you can say whatever you want about Michael Moore but the guy actually called it. Indeed, Trump did win after all which was something that pretty much everybody, included myself, didn't see comi

A good movie

“Following the debacle around ā€˜America: The Motion Pictureā€™, I thought I might as well check the other animated feature produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller also released on Netflix this year. To be honest, when I first heard about this flick, I have to admit that I wasnā€™t really intere” read more

Notes: Honestly, I thought it was slightly disappointing. I mean, it was visually appealing and I thought that the cast (Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luena, Maribel Verdu) all gave some solid performances but I seriously failed to see what was so amazing about this story. Pretty much like ā€˜Children of menā€™, another universally heralded movie directed by Cuaron, I didnā€™t really connect with the story. I mean, it was not bad at all, it was even quite intriguing but I thought it never really took off. Basically, it is supposed to be a steamy affair but I really had a hard time to care about the characters. I mean, good for them, they managed to explore their sex life but I didnā€™t think it was really that compelling. I donā€™t know, maybe I wasnā€™t in the right mood and I might re-watch it in the future to make up my mind for good. I mean, donā€™t misunderstand me, I actually liked the damned thing, itā€™s just that I didnā€™t get why it was so highly regarded.

Notes: I canā€™t believe I havenā€™t seen any movies directed by Akira Kurosawa for such a long time. A few years ago, I was doing a good job and ended up watching 13 of his movies but, by now, it has been ages since I saw another one of his movies. It is a real shame but maybe I will pick it up again at some point. Anyway, this flick is probably one of his most famous ones and therefore I was really eager to check it out. Indeed, it was a huge inspiration for Georges Lucas before creating ā€˜Star Warsā€™ as R2-D2 and C-3PO were pretty much copied on Tahei and Matashichi. Apparently, Kurosawa wanted this time to make something more commercial and accessible after making some artistic features like ā€˜Rashomonā€™, and indeed, in box-office terms, it was one of his most successful films at the time. Well, I thought it was pretty good and quite entertaining but it wasnā€™t one of his best movies in my opinion. Anyway, even if it didnā€™t really blow me away, it was still a pretty good flick though.

A good movie

“Since I kept hearing some really good things about this flick, I was quite eager to check it out. The funny thing is that, somehow, I first saw ā€˜Criminalā€™, the US remake, and, surprisingly, it took me 10 years to finally see this original version. Fortunately, this way, I didnā€™t remember much ” read more
