Notes: Even though I always admired Paolo Sorrentino’s work, I have to admit that I never became a huge fan. Well, in this case, even though everyone in my filmclub seemed to really enjoy this movie, to be honest, I had a hard time to really connect with it. I mean, as usual with Sorrentino, the whole thing looked great and it was always interesting to watch but, as far as I was concerned, I always felt a disconnect with the material. Again, as usual with this director, instead of giving us a straightforward plot, he gave some rather random scenes which made the whole thing quite unpredictable but also rather alienating. Indeed, even if anything could happen at any moment, why should we really care? However, what bothered me the most was the fact that it was supposed to be all very deep but, to be honest, I was never really convinced. You could say that, in many of his movies, Sorrentino displayed some fascination, or even obsession, regarding beauty and youth but it was always coming from a male protagonist. However, this time, it was supposed to be from a female protagonist but, even though Celeste Dalla Porta in her first acting job was quite mesmerizing, she felt more like a male fantasy than an actual woman (giving her the name of a siren from some Greek myth probably didn’t help). It’s interesting that the older version of the character showing up during the last 15 mins felt more real to me than the younger version during the previous 2 hrs, no matter how gorgeous she might be

Notes: Unfortunately, like pretty much 99% of what Willis has done during the last 10 years of his career, the damned thing turned out to be borderline unwatchable, I’m afraid. Where should I start? Even the title didn’t make much sense since there was no reprisal whatsoever. These movies were actually shot in 14 days and it shows and you might wonder how long it took them to write such a clunky script (2 days maybe?). And who came up with the great idea of casting Frank Grillo as a banker? I have to admit that Grillo was actually not bad playing a guy on the edge and traumatized by a bank robbery (at least, he did try which was more that what you could say about than the rest of the cast) but he was still completely miscast for this role. The saddest thing is actually that Bruce Willis did retire back in 2022 because he was suffering from aphasia and you might wonder if he was already suffering from this disease back then. At least, he did have more screen time than in this usual direct-to-VOD garbage but it was just rather painful to see the veteran obviously struggling with his performance. The fact that his character could have been easily removed without having any impact on the plot probably didn’t help either. Concerning Olivia Culpo, it's only after I watched this movie that I discovered that she was actually crowned Miss Universe back in 2012 so she was definitely charming but I’m not surprised that her career as an actress never really took off after being involved in such drivel. 1 month, 4 weeks ago

What is it about?
A blind lawyer by day, vigilante by night. Matt Murdock fights the crime of New York as Daredevil.
My verdict:
Before watching 'Daredevil: Born Again', since this TV-series was really heralded and since it was also available on Disney+, I thought I might finally watch the damned thing after all these years. Well, I do understand why it was so popular. Indeed, Daredevil is such a cool character and the gritty realistic approach was really neat. Futhermore, the cast, especially with a Vincent D’Onofrio really at the top his game, was quite strong. The only thing that it didn't really work was the storyline for each seasons. Season 1 was fine with the introduction of Daredevil, it was some basic but solid stuff. However, the season 2 came up with some immortal ninjas... Seriously? Furthermore, with Elektra, the Punisher and Wilson Fisk still in the picture, it was probably too much. Finally, the 3rd and final season was not bad but the storyline was too muddled as it went pretty much nowhere for much of the duration. Still, it is a solid TV-show, no doubt about it.
Will I watch the following seasons?

What is it about?
In 2003, rock singer Bertrand Cantat killed his partner, actress Marie Trintignant. This documentary reviews the case that divided a nation.
My verdict:
Even though I have left France more than 20 years ago, I heard of this case which was huge in France. What was (and still is) so shocking for many French people growing up in the 90's like me was that Bertrand Cantat was definitely one of the coolest music artists in France. Charismatic, talented, politically and socially active on the left side,... And, yet, after watching this mini-series, it is previous that the guy was (and still is) actually a toxic narcissist piece of sh*t after all. Of course, the women he was involved with (Marie Trintignant and Krisztina Rády) were probably psychologically not super stable but they certainly didn't deserve to be mistreated like this by such a psycho. That so many people kept supporting him for decades after what happened to Trintignant is just mind-blowing. 2 months ago
