Notes: I don't know abroad, but in France, it is a classic and it was a huge success back then when it was released. Anyway, it is such a bold and inspiring picture, I thought it was pretty amazing. Of course, there is no way to know how accurate the whole thing is but I thought it was very believable. Also, they didn't make any concession such as making the characters talk French or English, there wasn't even any subtitles but I thought it made the whole thing even more spellbinding to watch. The scene which personally really blew me away was the one when the guy sees how to make fire. The look on his face, the impact of this event, it was just amazing. In those few minutes, they managed to give the very essence of being human (the consciousness, the thinking process). Just amazing. Of course, the whole thing is not completely flawless. For example, to add something to the thin story, they had to throw in a romantic plot which was nicely handled but it was not as believable as the rest. Furthermore, the main character made too many huge jumps into evolution in just a couple of days. Still, the damned thing is just unique and pretty much a must-see in my opinion.

Notes: To be honest, when I first heard about this flick, I wasn’t really interested. Indeed, it felt like Sony was really trying to milk the famous character. However, it turned out to be a big critical and commercial success so, obviously, I became quite curious about the damned thing. Well, it turned out to be such a nice surprise and the proof that even though we are close to get a super-hero overdose, there is actually still apparently quite some creativity in this genre. Indeed, even if it might not be the best super-hero flick ever made (it wasn’t far from it though), it still managed to become the best Spider-Man flick so far. I’m not surprised that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were involved as the whole thing turned out to be such a fun wild entertaining ride. On top of that, the animation was just really neat and I wish I had seen it in the movie theatre when it was released because it was visually quite spectacular. Furthermore, this movie displayed that,to move forward with Spider-Man, they shouldn’t keep focusing on only Peter Parker because, after getting 3 young white boys playing pretty much exactly the same character, it is getting seriously repetitive and rather boring. With finally giving the lead to Miles Morales, they opened so many doors and, hopefully, the mighty Marvel will notice it and try to tackle some even more original concepts in the future. Finally, it was such a breath of fresh air to see a super-hero flick which wasn’t linked to an intricate cinematic universe.

“To be honest, at this point, I was pretty much done with this franchise but since this new instalment was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. First of all, after watching this flick, the Spierig brothers did sound familiar and I wondered where I heard of them before. To my ” read more

Notes: At least, I think we should praise the producers for not splitting this final instalment into 2 entries as it is such an annoying gimmick (for example, it pretty much ruined ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise for me). However, I’m afraid it was pretty much the only positive thing I could find regarding this flick. Alright, I have to admit that watching Dakota Johnson wearing as little as possible clothes on was not bad either but the rest of this movie was still seriously worthless. Basically, when the movie starts, Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey got married which was hardly surprising and, even though they had more sex than in the 2 previous movies combined, they were still the most boring couple I have ever seen. Seriously, they both had barely any personality whatsoever and, after spending 3 movies with them, they had become borderline cringe-inducing to behold. Eventually, the makers struggled through the whole duration to find any conflict to rock this relationship and, as a viewer, you just wait for almost 2 hours to finally see something happening to them. Eventually, this whole franchise was a big waste as it could have been an interesting introduction to the BDSM lifestyle to the mainstream audience. Instead, what remains is a very flat and tedious romantic tale about 2 boring individuals who pretend to have some kinky sex.
