Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Notes: Since I kept hearing some great things about this flick, I was really eager to check it out and I had some great expectations about the damned thing. Indeed, it was the Monty Python's first 'real' movie and it has been a huge classic ever since. I remember it very well, one of my oldest childhood friends was really a huge fan and wouldn’t stop telling me that it was one of the greatest movies ever made. I ‘m pretty sure I saw this flick with him the first time around. Eventually, to my surprise, I didn’t like it much. Basically, I was never able to really connect with the jokes and I always found them more stupid than actually funny. By now, I have watched this movie already a couples of times and I have never actually really enjoyed it. I don't know, maybe I should give it another try at some point. If I’m not mistaken, it was the first movie made by the Monty Python that I saw and, except with ‘Life of Brian’ which is indeed one of the best movies ever made, I didn’t really love any of their movies so I guess their humor is not for me.

Catch .44
Note : Seriously, the whole thing was just really weak. I mean, it is rather pathetic that, almost 20 years after the release of ‘Pulp Fiction’, we still get such lame copycats. Indeed, for no good reason, the whole thing went back and forth in time and they even gave us a typical Tarantino diner scene with some supposedly clever dialogue but even Tarantino himself has over used this gimmick by now. And then, at last, Bruce Willis finally showed up and the guy gave such a lame performance, it was just rather cringe-inducing to behold. Same thing with Forest Whitaker, he tried to give his character some quirky features but it seriously backfired.

A bad movie

“To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Bruce Willis, I thought I might as well check it out. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of his crappy direct-to-DVD releases that he keeps making nowadays. Seriously, even though the guy was shown prominent” read more

Man of Steel
Total worlwide box office: $3,768,298,638 Number of movies: 5 When was the first movie released?: 2013 (Man of Steel) When was the last movie released?: 2017 (Justice League) Most successful movie: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($873,260,194) Note: Even though DC had the ambition to compete with Marvel with their almitghty MCU, so far, all their movies have been very poorly received and none of them have really managed to set the box-office. However, they finally got a break with 'Wonder Woman' which was a critical and commercial hit. Still, you might wonder if it was a good move to have Zak Snyder directing most of the movies in this cinematic universe.

Spider-Man: Homecoming
Notes: Wow! Marvel has done it again... Indeed, each time I think I'm pretty much done with their MCU and how they have saturated the movie calendar with their generic super-hero flicks, they come up with something fresh, interesting and simply pretty damned entertaining. I mean, even though Sony must be happy with the deal they have made, it still must be painful for them that none of the previous installment they made without the help of Marvel was so good and it is even more embarrassing that these guys managed to deliver the best Spider-Man directly with their very first attempt. Basically, even though like anyone else, I always thought that Spider-Man was one of the best characters in this genre, the previous movies always messed up some crucial elements. In this movie, it was however pretty much flawless.

Dog Day Afternoon
Notes: It is definitely one of these movies which actually deserve their terrific reputation. Indeed, it is easily one of the best movies starring Al Pacino, the guy was really on fire back in those days, and he gave here one of his best performances. The fact that it is a true story didn't really interest me but it was just an amazing story and it kept me mesmerized until the end. Indeed, the main character, Sonny Wortzik, is such a deeply flawed but still charismatic guy, he could be one of the most intriguing characters I have ever seen. Furthermore, it is quite a dark and messed up tale and it was impressive how they managed to not sugarcoat the whole thing in any way. Sidney Lumet, who passed away in 2011, has made some great and not so great movies during his stellar career but this flick definitely belongs to his best directing efforts.

An average movie

“I wasn't really sure what to expect from this movie but since I have a weak spot for Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, they started with something really tricky as they started the movie completely in the middle of the story. It was a bold move that you don't s” read more

An average movie

“To be honest, I wasn't exactly dying to see this movie but, like any other kid, my youngest daughter really wanted to watch the damned thing. Well, eventually, I hope it will be the last installment because, even if it was still watchable, the whole concept, which was already never properly develope” read more

Bronson
Note : It was such an intense mad piece of mayhem and I really loved the surrealistic bits they put from time to time. Of course, I was also impressed by Tom Hardy who gave here a star-making performance. In my opinion, this movie also displayed how useless the prison system actually is. Indeed, someone weak or half-way decent will be probably completely destroyed in such environment and someone bad like Bronson would only become even worse so what's the whole point then?

A very good movie

“Since I kept hearing some really good things about this flick, I was really eager to check it out. Well, for once, I wasn't disappointed, that's for sure. I mean, a couple of years ago, Nicolas Winding Refn released 'Drive' which turned out to be a major cult-classic at the time but, to be honest, I” read more
