An average movie

“Nowadays, there is not much left of the once promising career of Val Kilmer and, not only the guy looks terrible nowadays, above all, all his movies are just some really terrible direct-to-DVD features.  Well, I always had a weak spot for this actor, at least , for his older work and he was the mai” read more

The Celebration (1998)
Notes: The first movie following the Dogme rules was just great. Indeed, there were no special effects, no big stars just a simple and pure movie, at least, that’s my opinion. To be honest, when I first watched it, I was about 18 years old and it was the first time I actually felt nauseous after watching a movie. I know, it doesn’t sound really appealing but it wasn’t because it was bad , it was because it was so powerful and emotional. Like I said before, there were no chases, explosions, shooting and stuff like that, it was all about the characters and what they go or went through and the whole thing was just spellbinding to watch. Yesterday I watched it again, 14 years later, and I was once again amazed by how strong the whole thing was. Honestly, there was seriously not a single shot which I didn't find perfect. Yeah, it is that good. Basically, it is one of the saddest movies ever made but there were still some funny moments.

A good movie

“Basically, it was another movie that I had for a very long time on DVD so I thought it was really high time to watch the damned thing.  Anyway, even though it was dealing with a subject dear to me (my step-son is autistic) and the movie dealt rather well with this matter, I have to admit that I had” read more

A good movie

“I had already seen this movie but since it was ages ago, I was quite eager to check it out. In fact, when I was a kid, I used to love these action movies starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and, eventually, 20 years later, it is pretty obvious that most of them were actually pretty much some garbage but ” read more

The 5th Wave
Notes: Following the footsteps of Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley, Chloë Grace Moretz decided she should also have her own franchise based on a Young Adult novel, which wasn't really a bad decision career-wise. The only point was that the whole thing turned out to be pretty weak, I'm afraid, and I'm pretty sure they won't release any sequels after all.

An average movie

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie but it was definitely a major guilty pleasure for me. Indeed, it is in fact a terribly generic and predictable romantic-comedy and, yet, I thought it was not bad at all, above all thanks to the 2 actors playing the lead. Indeed, like any” read more

A great classic

“What can be said about this movie that hasn’t been said so many times before? Basically, it is pure and simply another impressive piece of cinema coming from Charles Chaplin and it is probably even better than 'The Circus' which I also loved. In fact, I have actually a nice story about this flick.” read more

A very good movie

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Notes: To be honest, at first, I was a little bit worried that it would be yet another feature about a shy kid struggling in high-school but, eventually, it turned out to be maybe not the very best movie in this genre but at least certainly one of the very best. Where should I start? Basically, pretty much everything was pitch-perfect, going from the chosen actors for each part, to the realistic and engrossing relationships between the characters involved.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
Notes: Even though I'm not sure that the first reboot about Jack Ryan starring Ben Affleck called 'The Sum of All Fears' was supposed to launch a new franchise, this new reboot with an even younger Jack Ryan played by Chris Pine was definitely supposed to have some sequels. There were even plans to make some spin-off starring Kevin Costner's character. Well, since the critics were really lukewarm and it didn't do very well at the box-office, all these plans were eventually cancelled.
