Deadpool
Notes: In this age, when we are getting closer and closer towards a major super-hero overdose, this movie was actually what this genre needed. Indeed, basically the makers rejected both the dark and gloominess delivered by DC and the brainless popcorn entertainment produced by Marvel and they went for something really different delivering one of the most messed-up and entertaining super-hero features out there. Sure, there was indeed an origin story, also a rather generic romance and even some pretty badass action scenes, but, at the end of the day, they hardly cared for the plot, neither was I, and instead, they focused on the hilarious jokes and oneliners delivered by the Merc with a Mouth which was a great move.

A good movie

“Since I kept hearing some pretty good things about this movie, I was quite eager to check it out.  On top of that, my wife has always been a fan of this franchise so we watched it together which was pretty neat. Eventually, to be honest, I actually ended up with some mixed feelings about the damned” read more

A good movie

“For some reasons, even though I have been following Woody Allen’s work for several decades now, I have never been a huge fan of this movie. I mean, the first time I saw it, I was much younger and maybe I wasn’t able to really appreciate it but, eventually, after all these years, I have to admit ” read more

A classic

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick and I should definitely rewatch it at some point. Anyway, when it was released in France, it was actually poorly  received by the critics but, eventually, it turned out to be a massive box-office success and it is now considered a Frenc” read more

Happiness
Notes: Following his critical success with ‘Welcome to the Dollhouse’, 3 years later, Todd Solondz came up with this movie which was his most ambitious project and, in my opinion, by far his best movie so far. Obviously, his work is definitely an acquired taste and this feature was not an exception. Indeed, basically, there is no likable characters and they pretty much all do some despicable things throughout the whole duration. So why on Earth should you watch the damned thing then ?!? In my case, I believe that messed up people are actually much more interesting and fascinating than all the perfect people that you usually get to see in you standard Hollywood production. By way, this must be one of the last movies in which Lara Flynn Boyle still looked really charming. Anyway, if you dare watch this flick, I think it is definitely worth a look.

A good movie

“This is another movie I was eager to watch for ages. Seriously, I think it took me about 20 years to finally watch the damned thing. I have to admit that, even though I really wanted to see it after all this time, it was still worried about watching a 4 hour Shakespeare adaptation. Indeed, I managed” read more

An average movie

“Well, it was another movie that I had for quite a while on DVD  (I think at least 2 years, maybe even more), so I thought it was really time to watch the damned thing. First of all, I also need to add that I bought it just because someone at the shop pointed out that I could pick up another movie f” read more

Marmaduke
Note: One of the biggest downsides of the current CGI technology is that, nowadays, it is not so difficult anymore to animate any anymal as you like so, as a result, you end with all these movies dealing with talking animals, like 'Garfield', 'Beverly Hills Chihuahua', 'HOP' or ' Yogi Bear' (also in this list). Well, in this genre, I think this movie might be the worst one I have seen so far. I mean, I have to admit it, I'm not really familiar with the comics it is coming from but it seemed to be even less faithful than 'Garfield' already was. I mean, in the original comics, Marmaduke never talked and that's what he never stopped doing during the whole movie, talking nonsense. A part from that, I won't start to describe the plot which was just really inane.

A bad movie

“To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but, somehow, I still ended up watching the damned thing. Well, it turned out to be pretty terrible. Making a Murderer
What is it about? Filmed over a 10-year period, Making a Murderer is an unprecedented real-life thriller about Steven Avery, a DNA exoneree who, while in the midst of exposing corruption in local law enforcement, finds himself the prime suspect in a grisly new crime. Set in America's heartland, the series takes viewers inside a high-stakes criminal case where reputation is everything and things are never as they appear. My verdict: After hearing some really good things about this documentary, I was really eager to check it out. Eventually, it was quite fascinating but also seriously heartbreaking. It displays that the whole judicial system, at least in the USA, is pretty much a big joke. Will I watch the following seasons? Yeah, probably
