Notes: Well, eventually, like most of Wes Anderson's work, I thought it was a decent watch but I can't say it really blew me away either. Basically, as usual, there wasn't much of a plot and there was his usual tone which always make his movies stand out from the crowd. At this point, he was still going easy on the production design and it is only with his next directing effort ('The Royal Tenenbaums') that Anderson would start to go every time rather over the top with the colors and the vintage details. However, in spite of a rather limited budget, it was still visually neat. Anyway, at the end of the day, whether you care about this movie or not, mostly depends on how much you will connect or like the characters. Well, in my case, I thought they were half quirky and charming and half spoiled and obnoxious so I'm afraid that even though they were interesting enough, I can't say I really cared for them either. It is also with this movie that Wes Anderson will start a very long collaboration with Bill Murray who would be, so far, involved in all his following projects.

A good movie

“First of all, I have to point out that, even though I managed to find a UK double DVD with the director's cut for a decent prize, to my disappointment,  for some reasons, they didn’t provide any subtitles. I mean, I'm completely fluent  in English  (I even have  a university master degree in E” read more

“To be honest, I have lost all hope with Kevin Smith a long time ago but this movie was his only one that I hadn't watched so far so I thought I might as well give it a try. Following  the decent but flawed 'Red State', he decided to make another horror feature (in fact, it would to be the first  i” read more

“This movie was one of the last flops delivered by Disney before they would drop their trademark hand-drawn animation style. In fact, I even saw this feature in the movie theater with my wife and the kids (in fact, I think it was the very first movie we saw in the movie theater all together). Anyway,” read more

A very good movie

“After years being involved in some massive flops (especially 'R.I.P.D.' and 'Green Lantern' which also happened to be some comic-books adaptations), Ryan Reynolds has finally managed to get a box-office hit. This movie was quite a labor of love for him as he had been trying to get it made for more t” read more

A bad movie

“Obviously, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but since it was on TV, I thought I might as well check it out. Eventually, it managed to be even worse than I expected which is quite something. I mean, we are all familiar with all these boring and in fact  rather tame sex comedies, well, this on” read more

“Nowadays, there is not much left of the once promising career of Val Kilmer and, not only the guy looks terrible nowadays, above all, all his movies are just some really terrible direct-to-DVD features.  Well, I always had a weak spot for this actor, at least , for his older work and he was the mai” read more
