An average movie

“To be honest, I wasnā€™t really sure what to expect from this flick but since it was directed by Denzel Washington and starring Michael B. Jordan, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, itā€™s only after watching the damned thing that I noticed that it had received some rather poor reviews and, un” read more

A good movie

“Last week, I saw ā€˜Searchingā€™, I thought it was pretty good and, since this sequel was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out as well. Well, just like with ā€˜Searchingā€™, even though the whole screenlife thingy (all the events are supposed to be shown on a computer, tablet” read more

An average movie

“To be honest, this movie was not a priority but there was not much else to see this month in the movie theaters. In fact, when I saw the trailer (which gave way too many spoilers), I knew already that this movie would be a flop at the box-office. And, yet, I seemed that the critics were fairly posit” read more

An average movie

“I wasnā€™t sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Olivia Munn and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, I do believe that the concept really had some potential. Sure, it was nothing really original but it definite” read more

Easy Living (1937)
Notes: It was basically one of these typical screwball comedies they used to make back in the 30ā€™s and, to be honest, Iā€™m not very fond of the genre but I have to admit that I actually enjoyed this one though. In fact, it turned out to be even more hysterical than usual but it was actually quite entertaining to see these characters constantly shouting at each other. The week before, I actually saw Carole Lombard playing a similar role in ā€˜Nothing Scaredā€™ but I thought that Jean Arthur was actually better in this movie. Indeed, it was rather impressive how Arthur managed to be really lovely and, yet, she was still convincing playing an average woman. I also appreciated the fact that her character, while not being really bright, never became annoying so her performance was actually much more complex than it might seem and I understand why Arthur had such a stellar reputation at the time. Itā€™s too bad that I didnā€™t care much about the romance involving her character and John Ball Jr. played by Ray Milland. Still, some of the other actors involved were also really fun to behold as well, especially Edward Arnold and Luis Alberni.

A good movie

“I wasnā€™t really sure what to expect from this flick but since it seemed to have a decent reputation (it is included in the ā€˜The Best 1,000 Movies Ever Madeā€™ list selected by the New York Times, among other things), I thought I might as well check it out. Poison
Cast : Ralph Fiennes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley What was it about? When a poisonous snake slithers onto an Englishman's stomach in India, his associate and a doctor race to save him. My two cents: Since I really loved ā€˜The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugarā€™, of course, I was eager to see the other shorts delivered recently by Wes Anderson for Netflix. Eventually, it was once again quite a delight. Indeed, it was visually quite reminiscent to ā€˜The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugarā€™ but it wasnā€™t an issue, in the contrary. The tone was also once again quite marvelous. The only thing which did differentiate this movie from the other short from Wes Anderson was that all the actors were playing only one character this time around (they were only 5 characters involved though) which was the only artistical choice I didnā€™t really care for in ā€˜The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugarā€™ (it wasnā€™t a big deal though). Eventually, even though it was definitely quite fun and entertaining, the story was slightly too basic though and the fact that the outcome was so predictable probably didnā€™t help. Anyway, The damned thing was still really enjoyable though. My rating: 7/10 Check the full review
