Point Blank
Notes: This movie was actually barely seen when it was released but it has reached cult status through the years. To my surprise, I realised that 'Payback', a pretty good underrated Mel Gibson flick, was actually a remake of this movie which was something I actually didn't know before watching the damned thing. Anyway, above all, I was impressed by the directing. Indeed, especially during the first 20 minutes, the whole thing had a very strong surrealistic quality and it was quite mesmerizing to behold. Unfortunately, the rest of the movie, while it was entertaining, was much more straightforward. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I saw it on the BBC without subtitles and maybe I missed some details in the dialogues. I was also impressed by Lee Marvin, an actor which I knew by name but with whom I'm not so familiar with. So, the directing and acting were really interesting but I wasn't really so sure about the story which was rather pedestrian, at least, in my opinion. It is still a decent watch though.

“To be honest, since this movie had been a big critical flop, I wasn't really expecting much from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Nicole Kidman, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, as I expected, it wasn't really good, I'm afraid. First of all, even though Nicole Kidman did try,” read more

“Is SpongeBob still really so popular? I remember that, 10 years ago, he was pretty huge and I even went to see 'The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie' with my kids in the movie theater when it was released. With this in mind, I thought I might as well check out this sequel. Well, it turned out to be a dec” read more

“Even though this movie has obviously a terrible reputation, I still wanted to check it out for many years, especially since I always had a weak spot for Michael Cimino's work. Well, after finally watching the damned thing, even though it was definitely not the worst movie I have seen, it still didn'” read more

Mindhunter
Cast : Anna Torv, Lena Olin What was it about? In the late 1970s two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters. My two cents: Even though the movies delivered by Netflix have been only decent at best, they still deliver some of the best TV-shows right now and this one was also pretty awesome. Just like with 'House of Cards', David Fincher did direct the 2 first episodes but in this case, he also direct the last 2 episodes of the 1st season and the damned thing just looked amazing. On top of that, it is just a fascinating and realistic show with some really interesting characters so I really loved the damned thing. My rating: 09/10

The Young Girls of Rochefort
Notes: This movie features a (very) young Catherine Deneuve and her less famous sister, Francoise Dorleac. Dorleac also had a promising career, she even worked with Roman Polanski in ‘Cul-de-sac’ and Francois Truffaut in ‘La Peau douce’. Unfortunately, she tragically died in car accident at 25 years old. Anyway, I thought it was pretty awesome to see Catherine Deneuve at such a young age. She is a terrific actress and she was already awesome back then, the more movies I watch with her, the more she fascinates me. What about the movie itself ? It was pretty good, with some nice songs but it was obviously not my thing. I mean, there was barely any plot and, as usual with musicals, the whole thing was terribly fluffy. I know, it was supposed to be that way but I always find it rather tedious. Still, it wass a fun and very well made musical and Deneuve and her sister were terribly charming.

“Since this movie was John Carpenter's directing debut, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, to be honest, I really had a hard time to care about the damned thing, probably because I was expecting something completely different. Indeed, with its title and its poster and since it was directed by J” read more

“I wasn't really expecting much from this flick but since Nick, my step-son, was really eager to see it, we ended up watching it in the movie theater. In fact, I actually saw 'Jumanji' in the movie theater when it was released at the time so it was actually pretty cool to see this new installment wit” read more
