“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie. Still, I remember fairly well when I saw the damned thing. Indeed, back then, it was one of the very last movies directed by Steven Spielberg that I still hadn’t watch yet at the time so I was really eager to check the damned thing. W” read more

An average movie

“Since this movie was the last one directed by Sofia Coppola I still needed to see, I was quite eager to check it out. Eventually, I was amazed about how underwhelming it was. Indeed, it is apparently some American tradition to have some kind of Christmas specials and Netflix thought they should rele” read more

“Even though I'm not a huge fan, since François Ozon is still a really interesting director, I was quite eager to check this movie. Well, like most of the movies from this director, it left me equally intrigued and disappointed. Indeed, the whole thing definitely had some potential but I thought he ” read more

A classic

“I already saw this movie but since it was ages ago and since it was available on Disney+, I was quite eager to check it out again. Well, I’m really glad I gave this movie a second chance because I was much more able to enjoy it the 2nd time around (In fact, I think I should watch it again in about” read more

“I remember it very well when this movie came out, I even saw it in the movie theater. Back then, it was a huge critical success (it was even nominated for 4 Academy Awards winning one for the Best Score) and also an unexpected box-office hit (it was at the time the highest grossing film ever in the ” read more

Dead Man (1995)
Notes: I remember very well when this movie came out. Indeed, I even saw it when it was released and I was just completely blown away by the whole thing. I was very young back then, I had never seen anything similar before and, in my opinion, it was nearly pitch-perfect. Basically, the whole thing was just so poetic, it was definitely a really mesmerizing picture. Obviously the acting and the direction were pretty impressive and it might even be my favorite Johnny Depp movie. Since then, I have kept following Jim Jarmusch’s work, I have seen all his movies (except for ‘The Limits of Control’ which I still need to see) and, even though some of them were really good, no one of them ever managed to reach again this level of awesomeness. Eventually, it is a rather acquired taste but it is definitely worth a look, especially if you want to see what Johnny Depp was doing in the 90's when he used to be one of the most inspiring actors in the world.

“To be honest, it has been ages since I have seen this flick and maybe I should re-watch it at some point. Basically, this is a massive guilty pleasure of mine. Indeed, when I started to really watch movies compulsively, I was just about 12 years old and I was mostly focusing on action flicks, which ” read more

The Usual Suspects
Notes: Obviously, 15 years later, the twist at the end seems a little bit lame but when I saw it the first time at the movie theater, it really blew my mind. I guess it's a movie you can really enjoy only the first time and, obviously, before watching this flick, you have to be completely unaware of the twist occurring at the end. As a result, to be honest, the second watch was also pretty cool since you can check all the details but the end had therefore barely any impact. In fact, Roger Ebert really didn’t like this movie at all because, according to him, there is actually nothing to understand in this plot and, therefore, he just didn’t care at all for the whole thing. Ebert was definitely in the minority since this movie was a massive critical and popular success but I do understand where he was coming from and, when you re-watch this flick knowing how it will all end, it does feel indeed a little bit pointless.

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie and maybe I should re-watch it at some point. I remember quite well, when it was released, there was a big outcry because it was so different than the actual comic-book written by Alan Moore.
