johanlefourbe added 1 item to 1001 Movies ... my own version (1970's) list
Notes: To be honest, I have a rather hard time with John Belushi. I mean, in the last 30 years, the guy basically became a legend and I was really eager to check his work, expecting to discover a comic genius. Eventually, he just made 7 movies over 3 years so and, a little bit like James Dean, he came and went pretty quickly. However, by now, I have seen his two classics (this movie and ‘The Blues Brothers’) and, to be honest, even though I enjoyed both, none of them really blew me away. Indeed, since I kept hearing good things about this flick, I was really eager to check it out, but, eventually, in my opinion, it is a little bit overrated. I mean, I have to admit it, it is and remains a good comedy with some funny scenes throughout the whole thing but I can't say it was really hilarious though. I mean, the whole thing was basically a standard college comedy with some gross humor and I guess I have never been a fan of the genre. Still, you can see how it has inspired all the similar movies that came afterwards, that’s for sure.

johanlefourbe added 1 item to A Complete Review of Jim Jarmusch's work list
Cast : Charlotte Gainsbourg, Julianne Moore, Chloë Sevigny
What was it about?
It is basically a commercial taking a look at Yves Saint Laurent’s Women’s collection for Summer 2021.
My two cents:
Not so long, I saw another commercial for Yves Saint Laurent directed by Gaspar Noé and since the end-result was not bad at all, I was quite eager to watch another of these commercials from a director that I admire even more. Well, even if it was visually pretty neat, to be honest, it didn't really impress me. Indeed, it seems that Jarmusch tried too much to emulate David Lynch's style when he should have done his own thing instead. Anyway, the end-result was still interesting but not much more than that.
My rating: 06/10

Notes: I remember very well when I saw this flick. Indeed, it was a while back, I met this dude who was just as a crazy as I was about movies and when we met, we would be constantly talking about our various favorite pictures. At some point, we agreed that he should come over to watch some movies together and we ended up having my longest binge-watching night I ever had. Indeed, we watched, if I recall correctly, about 6 movies starting from 21.00 until 6 o’clock in the morning. It was pretty glorious and, at some point during the night, we ended up watching this cult-classic. According to my buddy, it was one of the best movies ever made and I just had to watch it. Eventually, I was indeed indeed quite impressed. Obvisously, I had never seen anything like this before and, only for that, it should definitely get some credit. Still, I have to admit that I wasn’t really blown away by the whole thing. I mean, basically, it is original, weird and quite fun but it is still quite an acquired taste and I didn’t find it really hilarious or massively entertaining to be honest. Still, there is no denying that it is a huge cult-classic.

johanlefourbe posted a review of Charlie Countryman
“To be honest, I wan’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Shia LaBeouf and Evan Rachel Wood, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, even if it wasn’t a complete disaster, I’m afraid the damned thing never really worked for me. Basically, it was on” read more
