A very good movie

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick and I should probably re-watch the damned thing at some point. Even though François Truffaut died to soon at the beginning of the 80’s, on the other hand, Jean-Luc Godard, the other master of the Frenh New Wave, has been quite product” read more

An average movie

“Even though the franchise developed around ‘Alien’ has been struggling through the years, it has been actually worse with the ‘Predator’ franchise. Indeed, even though the first instalment became rightfully a cult-classic, pretty much everything that came afterwards (including sequels, reboo” read more

An average movie

“To be honest, it has been ages since I saw this movie and I should probably re-watch it at some point. At some point, I saw ‘Paris, Texas’, the damned thing completely blew me away and, from that point, I became a huge fan of Wim Wenders. With this in mind, I was quite eager to check this movie ” read more

Notes: Well, it was definitely a weird and original movie but I really enjoyed it. Basically, most of the movie was about the quest of creating a great noodle restaurant and even though it was considered as a tribute to the classic Westerns, especially the ones starring Clint Eastwood, it mostly reminded me of 'Shichinin no samurai'. But this movie went way beyond that and it kept throwing some really random scenes but still always linked to food. For example, one particular scene involved a man and woman endlessly swapping an egg yolk from each other mouths and, to be honest, it was easily one of the most disgusting scenes I have ever seen. Still, it was a really fun and unique movie, the food looked amazing, it made me so hungry and I wish I could go to Japan just to taste some of these dishes.

An average movie

“If ‘Unbroken’ failed to really launch Angelina Jolie’s directing career, I'm afraid this movie however pretty much ruined her chances of ever becoming a major director in the near future. Indeed, it must have been one of the most misguided and pretentious egotrips I have seen in a very long ti” read more

An average movie

“I really had no idea what to expect from this flick but since I always had a weak spot for Nicolas Cage and Samuel L. Jackson, I thought I might as well check it out. Apparently, it was rather poorly received and also a box-office flop when it was released but I thought it was still a decent watch. ” read more

A very good movie

“It is a rather obscure feature and it has been a while since I saw the damned  thing. I wonder how I actually ended up watching this movie but my guess is that it was a big critical success when it was released so I ended up watching  the damned thing in the movie theater when it was released. Notes: Personally, I have never been a huge fan of ‘The Silence of The Lambs’. Sure, I did like it, it is definitely an entertaining flick but, in my opinion, it is a seriously over the top thriller with some preposterous scenes. The sad thing is that even though this movie has become a huge classic, many people tend to forget that it wasn’t actually the first film starring Hannibal Lecter. Indeed, 5 years before, Michael Mann directed this flick which was an adaptation of ‘Red Dragon’ which would be remade more than 15 years later by Brett Ratner. All right, I have to admit it, it wasn’t better than ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ which still remains by far the best movie involving Lecter but it was still pretty good though and it sure deserves to get more attention. The most interesting thing about this flick is how vastly different the mood and the tone was. I also enjoyed Brian Cox’s performance as it was something really different than Anthony Hopkins'. Indeed, his Lector was much more down to earth which was very welcome.

A good movie

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this movie but since it has won the Golden Kalf of the best Dutch movie of the year, I was quite eager to check it out. In fact, the Dutch movie industry is so limited that there are basically only 2 kind of movies that manage to win this prize. Indeed, the” read more
