A classic

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have this flick and I should probably re-watch it at some point. By now, I have seen more than 7000 movies and, following this mad obsession about movies, I have seen many very old classics and I have noticed that it is very often hit-and-miss with such time” read more

A good movie

“This movie is pretty much the stuff of legend. Indeed, the production on this movie was so messed up and convoluted (it has become somehow a trademark with Terry Gilliam) that the making-off has maybe become even more notorious than the movie itself. For example, after many delays, the film was alre” read more

Glory
Notes: Eventually, even though it was definitely a powerful tale based on a really important piece of history, I didn’t really connect with the whole thing. I don’t know, somehow, it seemed to me that it was just a well made but maybe too straightforward historical epic feature. Eventually, the only big mistake made by this movie was probably to tell its story from the point of view of a white commanding officer when it should probably have been told from the point of view of a black soldier. On top of that, it didn’t help that I never really cared for Matthew Broderick who has always been an underwhelming actor in my opinion (to think that the guy was, at some point, the coolest kid around following the success of ‘Ferris Bueller's Day Off’ seems hard to believe nowadays). At least, there is no doubt that Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman were both incredibly charismatic here and this movie would provide a really deserved breakthrough for both actors.

Aside the fact that you shouldn't put a review before watching a movie, I think your argument is actually quite interesting. Indeed, when they need to have a bad guy (like a terrorist for example) t

An average movie

“Even though this movie was a huge commercial and critical failure, I have to admit that it used to be one of my highest priorities for 2016. Indeed, I always had a weak spot for Alex Proyas’s work (‘Dar City’ is especially one of my all-time favorite movies) and, after 7 long years, the guy wa” read more

A good movie

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick. Still, I remember it pretty well. Basically, this movie is the proof that Jennifer Annison is actually quite talented and, if she would choose the rate material, she could have had a more interesting career. I mean, ever since she stopp” read more

The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover
Notes: When I watched this movie, I was very young, maybe 14 years old, and one of my sister’s best friends brought this movie saying that we should definitely check it out. Well, I had no idea what the damned thing was and I think I wasn’t really mentally prepared for something like this. Indeed, it was probably the weirdest thing I had ever seen at the time and even though I wasn't really shocked, I still had a hard time to get a grip on the whole thing though. The funny thing is that, at the time, I really recognized only Richard Bohringer who was (and still is) a famous French actor but there were in fact plenty of other interesting actors also involved. Anyway, after all these years, I still can't make up my mind if this movie was really bold and artistic or something just rather preposterous and pretentious. Eventually, a couple of years later, I saw ‘The Draughtsman's Contract’ and really loved it so I think it would be interesting to revisit this movie since I’m more aware of Peter Greenaway’s work now.

A good movie

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick and maybe I should re-watch it at some point. A good movie

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick and maybe I should re-watch it at some point. Still, I remember quite well when this movie was released. My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown (1989)
Notes: Back then, when I saw the damned thing, I was much younger and I’m pretty sure it was the first movie starring Daniel Day-Lewis that I saw and the guy just blew me away with his talent and commitment. I have to confess, I had actually never heard of Christy Brown before and, without this movie, I’m pretty sure I would have never heard of the guy ever during my whole life. To be honest, it is actually a rather straightforward biopic but even though it was fairly predictable, the main character Christy Brown was just quite fascinating thanks to Day-Lewis who was at the top of his game. Eventually, he would take this great thespian surprisingly almost 20 years to win again another Academy Award for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role with his great performance in ‘There Will Be Blood’ and he will become the first male performer to win three awards for lead roles following ‘Lincoln’. Anyway, coming back to our main feature, it was simply a fascinating drama.

An average movie

“Even though this movie didn't make much waves when it was released, any movie directed by the Coen brothers always remain a top priority for me so I was really eager to check this flick.
