A very good movie

“I already saw this movie but, since it was a while back, I thought I might as well check it out again. Well, it once again really impressed me, I might have enjoyed it even more the 2nd time around. Seriously, in my opinion, it is such a powerful story and probably one of the most inspiring movies I” read more

Hacksaw Ridge
Notes: I have to admit that it actually took me a while to really get into this story. Indeed, before watching the damned thing, I didn't watch a trailer and I didn't even read a synopsis so, at first, I thought it would be another rather straightforward tale of a young man going to war like so many others I have seen before. Obviously, it was really pleased that, for once, it was actually dealing with a medic, a guy who refused to even hold a rifle. Indeed, we never talk about them but those guys are just crucial in a battle and most of them are just heroes, even maybe more than all these soldiers trying to kill as many enemies as possible. For Andrew Garfield, 2016 was quite a banner year after his already impressive performance in 'Silence'. To conclude, Mel Gibson has made a name as a director after making some really violent movies and, this time, even if he still delivered some gruesome but impressive battle scenes, he decided to focus on the least violent soldier but also the most courageous and inspiring man ever witnessed on a battlefield and the end-result was just really impressive.

A good movie

“Even though I barely watch the news nowadays, like everyone else, I know who Edward Snowden is but, to be honest, when he came up with his big revelation, I wasn’t really surprised at all. I mean, with all this data available, it would be rather naïve to believe that most government organisations” read more

Inferno
Cast : Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones, Omar Sy, Ben Foster What was it about? When Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Dr. Sienna Brooks, and together they must race across Europe against the clock to foil a deadly global plot. My two cents:  Well, even though it was not awful, I still had a hard time to care about the damned thing, I'm afraid. First of all, the twist concerning one of the main characters was actually fairly easy to figure out. At least, it was fun to follow once again Robert Langdon trying to solve one of his elaborate puzzles and I always had a weak spot about movies dealing with amnesia. Unfortunately, the whole trick about giving Robert Langdon some hallucinogenic drug was just rather ridiculous. I mean, sure, it will mess around his mind and his memory but how can you predict what he will eventually remember and when he will get back his memories? And, of course, as usual with these kind of movies clouded with mystery, at some point, they had to uncover what was actually going on and, to be honest, the end-result was so far-fetched and rather ridiculous. Seriously, I don't think much of it actually made sense. Maybe I should read the book at some point to see if it works better (they apparently did make some modifications for the movie) but, with Dan Brown, I highly doubt it. An average movie

“Back in 2013, Ron Howard and Chris Hemsworth made together 'Rush' which was a box-office flop but, at least, it was very well received and, apparently, this end-result was good enough for them so they came up afterwards with another true tale but the flop was even bigger this time, I'm afraid. A good movie

“Usually, the first movie I see each year turns out to be pretty lame. For example, in 2016, I started the year with 'The Fifth Wave' which turned out to be so weak that, even after watching maybe 50 movies released the same year, it was still the worst of the whole bunch. Well, 2017 broke this  tra” read more
