Notes: To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie but, since I have it on DVD, I should re-watch it soon but I’m actually reading the book which I want to finish first before watching the movie again. Anyway, first, there was a book, then there was a play and, finally, there was this movie and, something rather exceptional happened here as all these versions turned out to be some huge critical success. Personally, I always find it rather difficult to care for costume dramas as they usually focus on the so-called difficult love life of the aristocracy. However, in this case, those characters were so mentally depraved, it made them just really fascinating to behold. The other fascinating thing about this movie is that even though it deals with some promiscuous characters, the whole thing is more about how they mentally manipulate people to get whatever they want. 
PS : I actually saw it again with my wife recently and she really liked it a lot. For her, it was the best movie in this trilogy and, I have to admit it, it really grew on me. Each time I watch this m

Notes: This movie is basically one of those that actually really shaped my movie taste. Yeah, it is that good and, the first time I saw it, I must have been 14-15 years old and it just blew my mind. Indeed, I had never seen something similar before and I have re-watched at least once every decade ever since and its impact is still very strong. At the time, in my opinion, David Cronenberg finally found the best combination between his trademark gross horror style and some more mainstream elements and the end-result was just mesmerizing. Obviously, it is still really creepy but the whole gimmick around twins had been done before but not with such tremendous results and, in my opinion, this movie has one of the best performances ever. Indeed, Jeremy Irons portrays 2 different twins so well that he managed to create two distinct individuals which were essentially identical and yet slightly different and, at some point, you get lost in the story and you have the feeling that you are watching 2 different actors who just happened to look the same. On top of that, this messed up story about gynecology was just fascinating as well.
